Introduction

Systems Engineering & Naval Architecture

The Department was originally named "Department of Naval Architecture" when it was founded in 1959 . It is the first founded Department of Naval architecture in Taiwan. System engineering is the main medium connecting various fields, and can transform the originally independent knowledge into a scheme to help decision-making and selection through "system thinking" and "system method" to construct a complete knowledge system. There are hundreds of systems that need to be considered in shipbuilding design. The matching and integration between systems often needs to be applied to the optimal planning technology of system engineering. In view of this, the Department of Naral Architecture was renamed to "Department of Systems Engineering and Naval Architecture" in 1998, in order to cultivate more talents to meet the needs of the times. In order to meet the needs of senior talents, the master's program of the Institute was established in 1981 and the doctoral program was established in 1987. The goal is to cultivate engineering research talents related to electromechanical and automation systems, hydrodynamic fluid systems, structural systems and naval architecture systems, as well as to train R & D talents for the interface integration of various professional engineering systems.

The educational objectives of the Department are:

Education objective 1: to cultivate students' ability to apply engineering knowledge to the planning, design and development of engineering systems.

Education objective 2: to cultivate students' ability to have any subsystem such as structure, vibration and noise system, hydrodynamic fluid system, electromechanical and automatic control system and naval architecture system.

Education objective 3: cultivate students' understanding of professional ethics and social responsibility.

College students trained with educational objectives will have eight core competencies:

Core competence 1: the ability to use mathematics, science and engineering knowledge.

Core competence 2: the ability to design and execute experiments, and analyze and interpret data.

Core competence 3: the ability to implement the technology, skills and tools required by engineering practice.

Core competence 4: design and engineering system, component or process capability, such as structure, vibration, noise, hydrodynamic fluid, electromechanical and automatic control or naval architecture.

Core competence 5: the ability of plan management, effective communication and teamwork.

Core competence 6: the ability to explore, analyze and deal with problems.

Core competence 7: understand current issues, understand the impact of Engineering Technology on the environment, society and the world, and cultivate the habit and ability of continuous learning.

Core competence 8: understand professional ethics and social responsibility.

The educational objectives of the Institute are:

Education objective 1: to cultivate students' ability to apply engineering knowledge and research the planning, design and development of engineering systems.

Education objective 2: to cultivate students' research ability in any subsystem such as structure, vibration and noise system, hydrodynamic fluid system, electromechanical and automatic control system and naval architecture system.

Education objective 3: cultivate students' habit of continuous learning and understand professional ethics and social responsibility.

Graduate students trained with educational objectives will have eight core competencies:

Core competence 1: professional competence of any subsystem such as electromechanical and automation system, hydrodynamic fluid system, structural system and naval architecture system.

Core competence 2: the ability to plan and implement special research.

Core competence 3: the ability to write professional papers.

Core competence 4: the ability to think creatively and solve problems independently.

Core competence 5: the ability to coordinate and integrate with personnel in different fields.

Core competence 6: good international outlook.

Core competence 7: the ability of leadership, management and planning.

Core competence 8: the ability of lifelong self-learning and growth.
